Class 4

Unit Standard 17576- Level 3, 7 credits
Unit Standard 24089 - Level 3, 5 credits

To obtain your Class 4 Licence you must have held your Full Class 2 Licence for at least 6 months if under 25 years of age; 3 months if over 25

A Class 4 Licence enables you to drive a rigid vehicle with a gross laden weight of more than  18,000kg. Refer Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999, Schedule 3.

THE COURSE INVOLVES:

  • full day logbook course (if you have not completed one for driver licensing purposes in the previous 12 months).

  • Class 4 theory training i.e. truck loading, handling, stability, road user charges etc.

  • practical training and assessment.

A doctor's medical is required if you have not produced one for driver licensing purposes in the past 5 years.

A Class 4 Learners license is required to attend this course. 4L can be obtained from NZTA / AA. No test required.

Wednesday 15th May.

Unit Standard 24089 Fatigue management and work time rules and regulations, theory and assessment, unless completed within the last 12 months and proof can be supplied.

Thursday 16th May.

Class 4 theory (US 17576) and assessment.

Practical training and assessment drive will be done when convenient.
